The Merry Maidens are a late Neolithic - early Bronze Age stone circle not far from where I live in Penwith, Cornwall. Believed to have been constructed as a place of ritual and ceremony.
Local folklore tells the tale of nineteen maidens who danced through the night at a wedding celebration into the Sabbath and were turned to stone for their impiousness. The two pipers were turned to stone in a nearby field.
These beautiful, delicate earrings have been hand cut from raw brass, hammered to create a subtle texture and hung on sterling silver ear wires.
Each are individual, caught in the ecstasy of the dance. Measuring approximately 8cm from the curve of the hook to the toes
