These brass hands have been given a patina using ancient, natural techniques.
The alchemy of creating patina is influenced both by the chemicals involved and the time taken for them to develop but also, heat and humidity, therefore each individual piece is utterly unique and organic. Please not that the pendant may differ slightly from those photographed.
Hands are very symbolic - they represent the tools of work, the touch of love and the spiritual ability to heal. Often hands are the focus of religious icons and paintings, saints hands clasped in prayer or hand held aloft in celebration. Hands are important across continents and cultures. I am inspired by The Hand of Fatima or the Hamsa hand, which is benign and protective.
As a reiki practitioner I see hands as a symbol of healing and I like to think that my jewellery carries with it some of that energy for the wearer.
